What You've Been Waiting For / Lo Que Esperabas

To be clear, I don't disagree with any of the other reviewers. This is a good band. Musically solid. High energy.

... but for me, nothing really caught hold. Some OK songs, but nothing special. A bit disappointed. It seems like timba bands emphasize high energy and hot rhythms instead of - in lieu of - well-crafted melodies. Many of the songs, their melodies, just kind of drift with no particular point or interesting theme. The end result is something dance-able, but not something I'm going to be humming the next day.

As the daughter of a Cuban musician, I have given many a cd to my father that i liked to critique. I loved this cd, and i thought he would too...He called me up to let me know that he was so impressed, and said that by far..this was the best Charanga Group in the US right now. Love, Love, Love this CD.

I just saw them live at College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, IL and their show was wonderful. High energy, great sound, very dance oriented. Everyone (and many were over 50 years old) was dancing. I immediately bought the CD on the spot and love it. It's great dancing and party music. I think your review was perfect for this CD (they do remind me of a type of Earth, Wind, Fire experience, but a latin version. Regardless, I find it enjoyable.
