This is such a fun record! It spawned many hits of the era. It's a mix of vibe based boogaloo, soul, and tipico beats. It's essential and guaranteed to make you wanna dance.
As for the reissue itself, it's pretty good. It's got the original artwork and it's remastered. However, I feel like I'm nitpicking here, but in some tracks there is a slight fade out and/or wobble. I guess the master tape may be damaged. I listened closely to earlier editions of this record, both on cd and LP and that problem is not present.
Also, it's too bad that the LP warmth and ambiance has not transfered well into this cd. It sounds a bit too compressed. This info is just for the collector.
If you just want the music, you have nothing to worry about. Great album!!!

I've had quite a difficutly locating any of the songs off these albums online and was thrilled to find the whole CD here. As a salsera, living in NYC and visiting Miami often, I hear Joe Cuba Sextet sparingly and wanted to include it in my collection. And I'm thrilled that I did! It's wonderful to pop in for any party or even for background music. Some songs are more 'American' in their English usage and jazz inflection, while some are total pre-cursor to Salsa, with more of a Mambo feel. But still it's pure Latin Bugaloo, which is in a class of its own! Anyone who loves any sort of Latin music must own!

When I was in college back in the 1960s, I knew a guy from Panama who had this album. The cheerful lyrics and sound and Latin percussion always boosted my spirits, and I often thought about this album, never imagining that I would ever hear it again. What a pleasant surprise to see it in compact disc form! I listen to it every few weeks while I am getting ready for work in the morning, and it always makes me smile. The musicians and backup singers were obviously having a very good time when they recorded the songs.
