Summary: if your parents are anything like mine. . . 2008-11-17
Comment: They will cry through a big part of their first listen to this cd.
My parents hadn't been able to listen to these mariachis (a very renowned group that most Latinos in my environs love and listen to a lot) for a long time because my brother destroyed their tapes. Neither of my parents is techno-savvy, to the point where even a cd player seemed too advanced for them. After watching my mom try to deal with an old borrowed tape that sounded as though it had been recorded in a wind tunnel, I bought this cd (along with two others by the same mariachi group), grabbed an old cd player I'd had sitting in my office for yonks, and gave them all to her. She's mastered the cd player quickly enough, but the most gratifying part is how good she and my dad feel listening to the music that they heard all the time in their youth.
Neither of them can dance any longer, but these "valses" (waltzes, don'tcha know) remind them of when they could, and while those memories are poignant, they also bring them lots of happiness.
The cd is filled with lovely Mexican mariachi waltzes that will make you want to dance.
Enjoy!

Summary: Relaxing sound of waltzes! 2008-07-06
Comment: If you are not familiar with these waltzes, it's fine because the music is so entertaining, relaxing and refreshing! The sound is crisp, clear, and beautiful. For music that you don't have to respond to, just listen to the array of instruments in this complete instrumental CD with no voices.
Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitan is known as the best Mariachi in the World. Enjoy This!

Summary: Love it, want to find more like it 2007-07-29
Comment: After returning from my honeymoon in Mexico, I was thirsting for Mariachi music and I came across this album while perusing Amazon lists and 5 stars just isn't a high enough ranking in my opinion. The music sounds instantly classic and hints at some by gone era that you would want to lose yourself in and leaves you thirsting for more.

Summary: Probably the best recordings ever by Mexico's best mariachi 2004-12-19
Comment: Beautifully recorded renditions of Mexico's most beloved waltzes, Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán performs in a way that many of them will bring tears to your eyes. Songs are of lost loves, lost loved ones, happiness, youth, "to laugh crying," and a beautiful one of Oaxaca's most famous composer, Macedonio Alcalá: "Dios Nunca Muere."
