Product Description
Last Summer Ottmar and his group Luna Negra gathered around the Fritz (Neumann) Head in his private adobe studio in Santa Fe, and recorded nine songs. No smoke and mirrors, just a virtuoso performance with a spacial accuracy that suggests that you are actually there in the room, maybe an unseen player in the band. As Stephen Duros (2nd guitar) says, 'Best seat in the house, man.' Any change in volume or left-to-right or front-to-back movement was created by the musicians moving around the dummy head. The goal of performers is always to capture the essence of live performance, and binaural recording just might be the best way to do it. This new 'live in the studio' set has been recorded entirely using the Fritz (Neumann) Head. 'I find the binaural experience much more natural than 5.1 or anything like that,' says Ottmar Liebert.

Summary: One of OL+LN's best! 2008-06-29
Comment: Regardless of the recording technique, this is one of OL+LN's best. It has been a very long time since I have heard music from any artist that has brought chills to my spine. "La Luna" is one of those songs that is immediately absorbed by your soul and takes control. You will be under it's spell until you are rudely awakened at it's end. Wow.
There remaining tracks will transform you to other distinations. You will feel the radiant heat of the sun, a cool desert breeze and the chill of the desert night. You will find yourself becoming an active participant to the music by clapping to many of the songs.
As for the "Dummy Head" recording technique, this is something that you need to experience. With an excellent set of headphones the effect is remarkable. With properly spaced loudspaekers the effect is outstanding. The technique does not distract you from the music but enhances the liveliness. This is one of the best digital recodings I have ever heard.
Outstanding.
