This semi-unplugged set offers up alternate versions of many of their past tunes -- not only are many quite different, they are in some cases much better! "Angel Eléctrico" ("Electric Angel") is the best example -- its provocative bass line dominates a subdued (compared to the original version) vocals; "Un Misil en mi Placard" ("A Missile in my Closet" -- don't ask) is pure aural joy with its authoritative acoustic guitars; "Té Para 3" ("Tea for 3") proves lead-man Gustavo Cerati even *more* a genius; and lastly, even "Entre Canibales'" ("Between Cannibals") refit proves more enjoyable than its Canción Animal album version. The combination of acoustic and electric guitars along with many other instruments, sounds, and special effects provide an exotic musical landscape of jazz and rock tunes that will haunt your musical imagination forever. I was introduced to this band's music years ago while in Mexico when I entered my Spanish pop/rock music phase. I have listened to so many thousands of songs and groups in my lifetime including all genres from classic rock, progressive rock, pop, new wave, new age, R&B, classical orchestral, renaissance, Irish folk, hard rock, heavy metal, Spanish pop/rock/jazz,...Read more |
