It had been 2 years since we have heard anything from Olga. But the wait was well worth it. I must say that this album is one of her best. It is better than "Yo Por Ti" and even better than "Sobrevivir". I think it is due to the fact that she put much more of herself into this album. She either wrote or co-wrote about 5 songs on the album and they happen to be the best ones. After listening to the album you can definitely tell she put in a lot of time and effort into the lyrical and musical aspects of the album. Her voice sounds better than ever. Of the 11 cuts on the album only 2 of them are ballads so you can be assured it is an upbeat album. It has merengue, cumbia, ballads, and tropical/pop mix. Just wonderful..... Here is a breakdown of the songs:
"Bandolero" (Pop Version): 5/5 I just love how the songs incorporates that violin sounds at the beginning and then turns into this really upbeat sounds. Love it!
"Una Nueva Mujer" 4/5 She goes back to...Read more

What do you get when you mix genius and talent crossed with beauty and authencity? Olga Tanon, la mujer de fuego, is right! With this new album this star of multifaceted demension in talent reclaims her throne and steps back into the big scenario. The energy felt in this CD captivates, her music penetrates to your soul.
This CD has a song from heartbreak to celebrating the miracle of life. This is a work of art with many compositions by the queen herself. Una Nueva Mujer is a big improvement for Olga over her last album Sobrevivir. She has returned more to the snappy merengues that made her famous (in the first half), the arrangements are good, often quite innovative and complex, and her singing is as fine as ever. My favorite song is the title Una Nueva Mujer, and these upbeat songs are catchy and have more depth than Yo Por Ti. Except for Una Nueva Mujer, these sounds are not real merengue, but rather a kind of tropical pop mix of styles. As such it is quite good, and Olga really lays it on.
Unfortunately, I find the second half of the album less strong. Abrie Tu Corazon is a kind of folk/rock thing, which I don't care for. This is followed by two heavily pop flavored merengues, and two ballads, which are just not particularly distinctive. Finally a merengue Bandolero which is good, and then a cumbia version which is not that great. I don't like finishing off albums with "versions" - it comes across as filler. Another...Read more
