Super Salsa 2010

It's so hard for me to find music with a Salsa beat that still sounds modern. The clubs I visit can be stuck with oldies, which aren't bad, but sometimes it's nice to have "new" sounding Salsa music.

I was originally looking for just one song, Luis Enrique's "Yo No Se Manana", but what compelled me to buy the entire album were the previews of the other songs. After receiving the album, the songs really were very good and the compilation works very well.

Many of the tracks are very lyrical and some of my favorites include the first three tracks: "Yo No Se Manana", "Adicto A Tu Piel", and "Confianza". There was obviously care in considering the ordering of the tracks because it just flows.

There are also some songs which are more rhythmically oriented such as "Asi Es La Vida", "La Noche", and "Gonzando En Miami" (which feels much more like a slow merengue than salsa, providing nice contrast.)

The one track I'm not fond of, however, is "Si No Te Quieres Tu"; part of it is the dragging rhythm, the nonchalantly sung lyrics, and the background strings providing a 'love boat' feel to it.

There is only one word for this CD - Excellent!!! If you like Salsa you must own this CD.
