Banco Popular releases a Christmas special every year, dedicated to a different musical icon. In 2011, they chose the single most important song writer the salsa genre has ever seen, Tite Curet Alonso. They did a fantastic job of choosing tracks and artists to interpret them. An all-star cast of latin music stars spanning generations, from Danny Rivera to the outspoken Calle 13. Danny Rivera's rendition of "Mi Triste Problema" is probably is as good as Cheo's as is Cheo's rendition of Hector Lavoe's Barrunto. "Lamento de Concepcion", "Con los Pobres Estoy", "Sobre las Tumbas" and 'Plantacion Adentro' are Curet's most iconic songs that told the tale of the struggles of the daily life of Puerto Ricans, poor people and negros specifically. This tribute is a beautiful and well-made one.
On another note, the DVD is probably Banco Popular's best ever. It captures the spirit of not only Puerto Rico, but the Carribean, which enjoyed Tite's music. His spirit lives on and this album...Read more

Another great production from El Banco Popular. The remakes of a great Puerto Rican Artist that has produced so much great music for Puerto Rico.
