Fiesta means party in Spanish, and Sesame Street is pulsating with activity in this upbeat preschool program featuring Latino songs. Jim Henson's Muppets join the fun while everyone's favorite, Elmo, learns the Conga- Wiggle dance. Maria, Rosita, and Gabi create floats and costumes; even Oscar reluctantly partakes in the festivities. The dialogue is sparse in order to devote most of the 30-minute show to singing and dancing during eight Spanish/English tunes, featuring special performances by Linda Ronstadt and Celia Cruz. Most of the music will be familiar, such as "Conga Counting Song," "Amigo," and "It Sure Is Hot." Kids will also learn greetings, familiar words, and numbers in Spanish. While some might wish for the addition of live-action scenes of Mexico or a more complex story line, the bilingual focus is solid and the ever supportive cast of Sesame Street grownups, kids, and Muppets make it a neighborhood worth visiting. --Lynn Gibson

Summary: Great educational DVD in Spanish/English. 2010-08-01
Comment: Received as a gift for my daughter's 1st birthday. I love it. Anything Sesame Street is educational and never fails catche young children's attention. I want to buy more of these! Good to help familiarize babies/children with Spanish. My husband speaks to our daughter in Spanish, but this is another great way to familiarize her with Spanish.

Summary: Fantastic DVD 2010-02-16
Comment: I ordered this DVD for my 18 month old son. He has recently become obsessed with Elmo, so I was looking for videos with Elmo to try to interest him, as previously he has not had the attention span for any movie or tv.
He now asks for Elmo ("Melmo!") throughout the day, and will sit and watch nearly the entire episode. I usually watch it with him, and actually enjoy all the music! The songs are catchy and not annoying, like so many kids songs. The fact that it is also teaching him Spanish is a real bonus.
We fast forward through one segment, which has real kids dancing and singing to a song, as he gets bored during this one (he prefers the puppets). Otherwise, he is fascinated by the DVD and sits enthralled, watching it. We have watched it time and time again, and he hasn't become bored by it.
I would recommend this video to anyone!

Summary: Very little Spanish 2009-12-27
Comment: It's almost entirely in English and shouldn't be marketed in the Spanish category. The video is harmless enough, I suppose, but why have Celia Cruz singing in English? It's more of an exposure to some of the most well-known Latin American celebrations than a language video. It may be good as a gift to parents who freak out if they hear a "foreign" language being spoken without everything repeated in English.
