Oral Fixation or Laundry Service. And certainly not Pies Descalzos. This is a new era in Shakira's life and with a new era comes changes in her persona and her music. We have to understand that Shakira's past albums will never be repeated and it is foolish to yearn for her to do a "Part 2" of something that is over and done. True fans should learn to appreciate what Shakira is doing. Whether it is experimenting with Pop, Dance, Electronic, Hip Hop or Latin music. I personally have enjoyed & embraced every single one of Shakira's albums. Yes, some are stronger than others but they all hold a special place in my life. That being said, I would like to begin my review of Sale El Sol.
I have to say that I am very impressed with this new album. I enjoyed this album since my very first listen. As many other reviewers have stated, Shakira does return to some of her previous roots but at the same time offers something...Read more 27 of 29 people found the following review helpful: Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Sale El Sol (Audio CD) Absolutely loved this CD. Her lyrics are as good as they were with her earlier albums ("Pies Descalzos" and "Donde Estan Los Ladrones?") and the music varies from her old-fashioned rock style that's perfect to listening while driving (Sale El Sol) to quieter songs with smaller musical resources that are equally effective (Lo Que Más). This album balances itself perfectly in satisfying long time fans who were disappointed with "She Wolf" as well as fans who are looking for something new to enjoy from her. She goes back to her roots while exploring new fields that she's never delved into before. And to make things even better, there is also a Waka Waka remix that will remind you why Shakira is an icon and one of the best entertainers in the business. She makes me and countless others proud of being Latin American. 18 of 22 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Sale El Sol (Audio CD) So here we are!
After Laundry Service, I thought Shakira will never go back to her roots. Laundry Service was still a Shakira album, however she missed the Latino flav. She nearly hit them with Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 but it was not exactly that same, as she was in the 90'. If I did know the date of the release of Sale El Sol, I would definetly think it's one of her early albums. But hey! It's 2010! And damn, she got back to her roots like crazy. The album is a masterpiece. It contains the rock,soft-ballad and Latin power Shakira had since her beginning. The dance song Loca is great as a fun song, however if you listen to the whole album you will notice it is one of the least favorites. The album begins with Sale El Sol, which totally reminds me on Pies Descalzos album. Antes De Las Seis is one of the highlights, it is a beautiful written and vocally performed ballad. Gordita has an...Read more |
