Summary: Me Veras Volver: 1997's Farewell tour done right 2008-11-09
Comment: Something just quite wasn't right about both "El Ultimo Concierto" releases in 1997. It had the songs, it had the fans, it seemed like the perfect goodbye release, but there was something that didn't quite click. I had always wondered what that was, and until the Me Veras Volver tour was released on CD and DVD i found out: it was lacking passion!
Because the band ended in such terrible terms in 1997, the goodbye tour back then seemed more like a responsibility to Sony BMG records rather than something the three of them were dying to do. The Me Veras Volver Tour release highlighted this in a massive way. It has all the elements that make a live album great, but it also has a magical element to it, with Gustavo, Zeta and Charlie playing with passion and really giving it all on every performance.
The double CD highlights include : PicNic en el 4o B, Cuando Pase el Temblor, Signos, Fue, Un Millon de Anos Luz, Zona de Promesas, Cae el Sol & Profugos. I would have to agree with a previous review, nevertheless, in that I felt the intro was absolutely essential and it's a shame they decided to leave it out. Other than that, this release is absolutely brilliant.

Summary: Still Great after 10 years 2008-10-30
Comment: Althoug I agree with Raul in that no new material is presented, the show is great. If you were there signing long the 100,000+ peruvians, 50,000+ Colombians, 30,000+ Panamanians, you will enojoy this CD (meant to be bought with Gira: Me Veras Volver 2).
Also, the DVD is great.
The Good: This is Soda at its best
The Bad: Shows too focused on the Argentian Shows (BsAs)
The Ugly: The price

Summary: Soda Stereo fans are being abused by Sony/BMG 2008-10-28
Comment: THE CD
Not much to say really, if you were aware of the tour then you must already know this is a selection of 29 hits performed live. No new songs were composed as the band decided it would be a limited tour for fans of the band.
The quality of the recording is good but it lacks at some point of that concert-sense as it's been highly edited. Take for instance the first song "Juego de seduccion", in the concerts the opening song was the studio version of "Some day, One day" (Algun dia" from the tribute to Queen) which lyrics were fit to the occasion, right when the song says "Si piensas volver... algun dia..." the band would start the first chords of "Juego de seduccion". Well, "Some day, One day" was removed in the CD as well as many of the in-between-song comments by Cerati.
Overall, a good release and as usual, an excellent graphic design for the album art. So why one star?
THE RELEASE
Ten years ago, Soda Stereo dismembered and they had their farewell tour on 1997. A double album was released then with the last concert, but, cleverly enough, the two discs were sold separately (named "A" and "B") and each at the price you'd pay for the two had they been released together.
A couple years ago, they re-released the last concert, but then they made it a CD+DVD release, including a selection from disc "A" and "B" labeled as disc "C" and the DVD with the last concert.
Then Soda announces a 2007 tour, "Me veras volver". A selection of songs from that tour is included in this album. And as you can see, they did it again. Instead of releasing a double album at the standard price of $14.99, they are releasing them separately at $14.99 each! ("Me veras volver" CD 1 and CD 2, the DVD version is, of course, being sold separately)
What makes matters worse to me is that the contents of these two discs have been around for free on the web for almost a year! They gave a concert last year in Colombia and somehow someone managed to extract the audio of the 29 songs they performed from the HQ console, this was of course uploaded to the web and has been available since then. What I am trying to tell, for fans, this is not a new product at all. Basically you are paying double for a product that has been available for free for almost a year.
Don't get me wrong, I am a big fan and I would definitely have bought these had they been released together. I just thought I'd give anyone willing to buy them a heads up.
