5.0 out of 5 stars way ahead of its time, June 8, 2004
This review is from: Dynamo (Audio CD)
yeah I can remember, south america wasnt ready for this record back in 1992, we were receiving the first smashing guitars from nirvana and pearl jam, and everybody thought "the louder the better" but not realizing what was it all about. Suddenly I heard "dynamo" and I have to admit that I wasnt ready either, it took me a couple of years til I heard it again, and I just knew it: gustavo and cia were at least 10 years ahead of everybody else!!. It sounds fresh, rumbling, punching (primavera 0), driving (secuencia inicial), organic at moments (claroscuro), filled with electronic gizmos and tricks, drumming loops, this is a very rewarding experience. Soda should have break up after this album came out, it was impossible to top this.
Highly recommended.

I never really gave Soda Stereo a chance due to my musical arrogance back in 1993. I can't say that I'm proud to say that but until I heard Dynamo my whole perception of Soda Stereo changed overnight. What an amazing breakthrough album. Soda did away with the normal sounding 'latino rock' syndrome and instead dabbled into audio studio technology, sampling, live drumming to loops (Nuestra Fe) etc.. I can't describe how innovative this material was for its time. I managed to air it a few times on BBC radio and managed aswell to obtain some amazing remixes from this album. (feel free to ask for a copy, e-mail; levi@orange.net). I was told that Soda played a Gig in Chile promoting the Dynamo release and that fans heckled them as they only wanted the old sounding stuff. It's a great shame that the fans didn't open up to something so ahead of its time. What would I give to have had the opportunity, plus to have n-joyed a cool tipple. It's a loud album of which deserves a good audio set-up...Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars capas y capas de sonido...(z bosio), January 24, 1999
