Although many modern bands have done tributes to norteño bands in the past, none have done it like this. From begining to end this album along with the 2nd part are the kind of tribute that will bring back memories for those who grew up with these songs. And a good intro for those who've never heard them.

I bought this cd/dvd as part of the set (vol. 1 & 2) for my parents. They thoroughly enjoyed watching and listening to music from their youth back in Mexico. I also found it very enjoyable and compare it to American folk music. It's the root of the new "Norteno" music that the new bands are playing. I must add that the song dedicated to a father touched me deeply as it speaks about the love we have for our fathers. I greatly recommend buying these 2 volumes and playing them on a hazy lazy Saturday afternoon barbeque or as we call it "carne asada".
