Victor Manuelle's Decision Unanime reads like an obvious bid for pop stardom--slick production, big-name pop and reggaeton vocalists--but it's ultimately anything but that. Instead, it's a grand reaffirmation of his status as one of the genre's preeminent salseros. Manuelle could likely have a crossover career ŕ la Marc Anthony, but he's simply not interested. No mediocre English singles for him. Manuelle instead showcases his polished presence and suave good looks amid sweltering salsa rhythms, which make up the bulk of Decision Unanime. There are flashy cameos from the likes of La Secta Allstar, Hector "El Father," and Don Omar (who turns in a surprisingly tender vocal during "Nunca Habia Llorado Asi"), but they don't seem calculated or forced. In fact, Manuelle turns them into temporary salseros instead of copping to their grooves. The disc's best moments--"A Que Te Supo?," "Cenizas," and "Hazme Sentir"--find Manuelle solo on the microphone, showcasing his charismatic vocal style. When Manuelle finally does bow to the power-ballad inclinations of La Academia finalist Yuridia during "Nuestro Amor Se Ha Vuelto Ayer," it's an effective, emotive moment. --Joey Guerra

Summary: Best salsa album in ages 2007-09-22
Comment: I though Victor Manuelle's best days were behind him. But he proved me wrong! This is probably his best album. It's typical salsa romantica Manuelle... so what's different? Probably just the quality of songs... the melodies are gorgeous throughout.

Nuestro Amor Se Ha Vuelto Ayer was one of the big salsa songs of last year (possibly the biggest)... it was huge in Peru, Puerto Rico, Colombia (all the salsa centres basically) and it's still getting played. It deserves to be as played as it is... has a gorgeous melody and the rhythm on it is just right.

Maldita Suerte is the other standout, another romatic song with a gorgeous melody.

El Perdedor with it's infusion of Brasilian music for the bridge is fantastic.

Even the Don Omar duet Nunca Habia Llorado Asi is good. Don Omar can sing whether you like reggaeton or not (and I do like it) and it works.

But there are mistakes and no 1 by a long shot is the duet with Hector el Father and the Secta All Stars. Its just boring. Hector el Father sometimes brings out a good track once in a while but he's never been able to rap. Further Secta All-Stars I never really dug either. Aside from that the song is confused and it'll leave you confused. Bad Mistake.

He's also tried some harder hitting salsa numbers with Eddie Palmieri, only problem is Eddie just isn't the genius he was back in the 70's. I love my salsa dura and i'd love Victor to do some salsa dura, but it's gotta be done right. Since the reference is the 70's you better try to be just as good and this isn't even close to that salsa dura. By far and away the best salsa album of the last few years is Adolescent's Orquesta - Buscame from 2006 so that is the salsa dura Victor needs to be going for. Check that album out as it's the my reference album for the last few years, I thought they'd stopped making salsa albums like that back in the 80's, but apparently in Venezuela and Colombia they are still hitting hard and dirty.

In saying that... Apart from those minor things this is still the best modern salsa/salsa romantica CD to come out in 2006 and i've heard nothing to better it in 2007. But for the best

Buy it... it's a great album.

Summary: Eslabon Perdido "lost link" 2007-01-01
Comment: This Victor Manuelle's albun especially tracks #4 & #7 it could be consider as the "eslabon perdido" between the 70' salsa clasica and today's salsa. The first "salsero nuevo" that could be part of the salsa old school
Excellent Work

Summary: Decision Unanime 2006-07-08
Comment: I just loved this album, got in shipped in from Amazon to the Uk where I live because you cant get it on the UK site. Have been a fan of Victor for about 5 years now and have all his albums.

This album has been a delight to listen to, and is completely different to his last one Travesia, which I didn't really enjoy.

My favourite tracks are Nuestro Amor Se Ha Vuelto Ayer, El Perdedor, Vamos De Nuevo, Maldita Suerte, Nunca Habia Llorado Asi, Cenizas.
