Album Description
With his latest release, "Best of Esteban", from one of the world's most prolific composers and guitarists of our time, Esteban has not merely created a retrospective. Instead of a simple cut and paste collection, he returns to the studio to reinvent a handful of his concert favorites. The result is a fiery, blues/rock/flamenco melding of the songs that have made him a beloved icon in classical and modern guitar playing.

Comment: I was talking to a friend about Flamenco guitarists and he recommended this artist. I ordered a CD by him and was totally satisfied with the quality of work. I will buy more of his music.

Comment: As an alternative, please consider buying Andres Segovia's Gymnopedies or Gnossiemes by Satie. I heard Segovia was Esteban's mentor. I'm sure the skill was transferred, but there's no accounting for taste. The 2 solo guitar pieces on the album are superb, but the others are crowded by flute, drum and violin accompaniments. Esteban's talent is undeniable, but overproduction is a killer. Sorry, sir, but Esteban, as a viola soloist, I must speak my mind! Thank you for your contribution to the collective.
