A bevy of high-profile guests pops up on Amor, Familia y Respeto --Sheila E., Chris Perez, Nu Flavor, Fito Olivares, even talk-show host Cristina--but A.B. Quintanilla y los Kumbia Kings remain front and center on their inspired debut album. Much like he did with his late sister Selena, Quintanilla fuses the traditional cumbia sound with reggae, rap, rock, and dance music on songs such as "Azúcar," "Fuiste Mala," and "Reggae Kumbia," turning the Tejano sound on its head. The group also dabbles in old-school R&B on "Together," featuring vocals by the late Roger Troutman, and "U Don't Love Me," a silky crossover-hit ballad. Amor, Familia y Respeto also features "Oh No," a sweet cumbia cowritten by Selena that she never had the chance to record, but which her brother included here as a tribute. --Joey Guerra

Comment: When I got this cd I was amaze at how good it was. A.B and the boys did a wondeful job with this cd I can see why they are so popular. All the songs here are great and nothering less.

Comment: I LOVE THIS CD AND WOULD RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE REATHER THEY SPEAK SPANISH OR NOT.TO A.B. QUINTANILLA YOUR THE BEST AND GOOD LUCK IN THE FEATURE.I KNOW THEY WILL GO FAR BECAUSE THEY ARE A GREAT GROUP AND SELENA WOULD BE PROUD OF WHAT THERE DOING WITH THERE MUSIC!!!!! THIS ONE WILL GO TO THE TOP OF THE CHARTS IT'S SO GOOD.

Summary: Classic Cumbia 2000-10-19
Comment: This is one of my favorit CD's. My Bestfriend doesn't speek spanish but she loves this CD, it is a very dancible and upbeat CD. it has taken classic cumbia and made it more modern for the newer generation of listiners but it also interests older classic cumbia lovers too! this CD shows the changes SELENA was doing with her own music. A.B. has a great talent for writing and i can't wait for his next CD. He has taken the style he and Selena created and if she were still here she would ahve changed the style even more like this CD. this is a wonderfull CD,even though it is mostly in spanish I feel that it has potential in the english market, it is latin but not so that it can not be enjoyed in the anglo market.

Comment: ONE WORD OF ADVICE - GET THIS CD NOW BEFORE IT SELLS COMPLETELY OUT. THIS IS THE BEST CD OF THE YEAR. IF U HAVENT HEARD IT YET JUST LISTEN TO THE SAMPLES AND YOU'LL FALL IN LOVE WITH IT. GREAT WORK FELLAS. HOPE TO HEAR ALOT MORE FROM U IN THE FUTURE.
