Originally banned in Mexico and slapped with a lawsuit in Spain, Molotov, a foul-mouthed rap en español group based in Mexico City, is as fired up as Rage Against the Machine on its debut. The album's title, which translates as "Where Will the Little Girls Play?" parodies ¿Dónde Jugaran los Niños? (Where Will the Children Play?), a 1992 album by Mana, one of rock en español's biggest acts. But that's just the beginning. Rapping in both Spanish and English, the band puts together an explosive blend of turntable scratches, thick bass lines, and flamenco guitar riffs. Initially misinterpreted as a slur against homosexuals, "Puto (Coward)" actually makes fun of anyone not willing to stand up for himself. With its chanted lyrics and anti-authority theme, "Gimme Tha Power" is an anthem for disenfranchised people everywhere. Think of Molotov's Dónde as Mexico City's answer to Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back. --Jeff Niesel

Summary: Donde jugaran las niñas? Quien sabe... 2007-11-24

Comment:
First time I bought this Cd was back in Sep 97, after a friend from highschool played a couple of songs I thought "I gotta have this!". Unfortunately my Mom didn't think the same and the Cd "dissapeared" after a year or so. The second time I bought it was in 2001 and had the same "mysterious" destiny, desapeared after a few months...Now that I have my own house I can be sure to buy it one more time and I'm pretty sure this time it will stay with me for a long time.

About the Cd I just can say if you're up to laugh and have a few "rebel melodies" this is the perfect cd for you. And if you're a Molotov's fan you oughta have this!

Summary: These hombres got nothin' on RATM 2005-03-20
Comment: I read a review on Rage Against the Machine that claimed this band is "a million times better" than RATM. I have only one problem with that opinion - it's wrong. These guys have a pretty good sound. Nice, hard riffs and basslines, but I think they could've found a better singer. This guy has a major speech impediment. The vocals don't even sound like English, for Webster's sake!! And those song titles??? Some are legible, but most look like Greek to me. How about a little spell check next time?!

I AM over the age of 13!

Summary: Pretty good! 2004-04-11
Comment: Very political, very heavy, very interesting. I like the strength of the guitars on some songs, while in others is more like a smooth balance of lyrics and music. The songs are powerfull, insipred by mexican pride and lots of complains about the government, which is the reason why these record has being banned in so many places. None the less it will be a classic.
I like Gimme the Power and Matate tete the best.
